K. S. RANGASAMY COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY

K.S. Rangasmay College of Technology (KSRCT), which started under the KSR Group of Institutions in 1994, has come up with all basic and advanced modern infrastructure facilities, excelling in both academic and research activities. It is an autonomous institution, affiliated to Anna University, Chennai; approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi; accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi; and certified ISO 9001:2008 by TÜV, Germany. It offers 11 undergraduates and 14 postgraduate courses besides M.S. / Ph.D. programme in different Science, Engineering, and Technology disciplines. K.S.Rangasamy College of Technology is recognised by DST - FIST to improve Science and Technology infrastructure facilities at KSRCT.

The college has earned reputation among all the self-financing colleges in South India by the way of academic excellence, introduction of new courses, and provision of necessary amenities for the betterment of the student community. The institution is now focusing on research and development through sponsored research projects and consultancy services. This institution is headed by Prof. K. Thyagarajah.

The educational institutions that come under the aegis of KSR Group are KSR Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Rajammal Rangasamy Higher Secondary School, Avvai KSR Matriculation School, Rajammal Rangasamy ITI, KSR College of Technology, KSR Institute of Technology, KSR College of Arts and Science, KSR Polytechnic College, KSR College of Engineering, RR Teacher Training Institute, KSR Institute of Dental Sciences and Research, KSR College of Education, KSR College of Arts and Science for Women, KSR ITI, and KSR Institute of Industrial Training School. The total strength of students nurturing the Arts, Science, Engineering, Technology, and Dental Medicine education is approximately 29,000. The students are coming not only from India but also from all over the globe, especially from countries such as South Africa, Kenya, and Nepal.

CENTER FOR NANO SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (CNST), KSRCT

In recognition of the dedicated service of KSR Educational and Charitable Trust, the management extends full support in establishing a unique and offshore research Centre for Nano Science and Technology (CNST) with a dedicated team of faculty and scientists working together to bring innovation in Nano Science and Technology under the Directorship of Prof. V. Rajendran. The centre is aimed to cater to the academic and industrial needs in collaboration with various national and international universities, research centres, and industries. The management is keen in bringing out the CNST as a world-class research centre to take up any challenging research work in Nano valley for the benefits of the nation and the society.

The centre has already completed 19 major projects from DRDO, DST, Nanomission, UGC-DAE CSR and IGCAR, and six minor projects from DRDO, CSIR &UGC with a total grant of INR 2.77 crores. Two major research projects from DST and DRDO with a total grant of INR 71.48 lakhs are ongoing. The centre has filed 13 patents in areas such as nano-metal oxides from natural minerals, nano-silica from rice husk, and nanoparticles from herbal plants for different industrial applications. These patents are ready for technology transfer.

The centre has already signed MoUs with leading research institutes in India and countries such as Germany, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia, Singapore, USA, Portugal, South Africa, Kenya and Mauritius for joint collaborative research work. The centre is also looking for joint collaborations with multi-national companies on mutual interest. The department has already conducted many popular international conferences and workshops.

The centre offers undergraduate (B.Tech.) and postgraduate (M.Tech.) courses in Nano Science and Technology. Adjunct Professors are working at the centre from reputed institutions like NUS Singapore. The centre has come up with more than 200 publications in different peer-reviewed international journals with good impact factor.

GWANGJU INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (GIST)

The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology is a research-oriented graduate school established by the Korean government in 1993 and also includes an undergraduate school since 2010. To enhance its competitiveness, GIST has carefully selected five leading fields of science and technology, which includes Information and Communication, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechatronics, Environmental Science and Engineering, Life Sciences and recently Nanobio Materials and Electronics as areas of special focus. GIST was ranked No. 4 in the QS World University Rankings 2014 in citations per faculty.
